a question

why is it that
under this new health care plan
i am covered under my dad's insurance
with the fed up to age 27 & nys up until age 29
and am considered a dependent
even if i don't live under the same roof
yet the child income tax credit stops at age 18?

government, the most confusing entity EVER...

nys unemployment is asinine

as a member of the unemployed for over a year
you'd think new york state would be happy that i found a job
well apparently not...
i got a job through a temp agency
working for a furniture company's warehouse
after one sunday of working a ten hour day
i figured out the next day the job wasn't for me
not because of the ten hour day
but because compared to the previous jobs i've had
this involved moving things that weighed my weight or up to 350ish lbs.
so i talked to the guy at the temp agency
"do you have any other jobs available?" i asked
"not at this time, no"
i also informed the guy would interviewed me at the furniture warehouse
sore as hell is the best way i could describe how my body felt for the next three days
i went back to the classifieds looking for something else
the following sunday i claimed my weekly unemployment "benefits"
stating that i worked 1 day, being the honest dude i am

a few weeks pass by and i get a letter in the mail from albany
"because you didn't claim you worked, you have been overpaid $527.25"
i'm not one to worry about things, but i was surely pissed
where the $550 figure came from was that two weeks after i tried the heavy warehouse job
i got the warehouse job i'm still at two weeks after the first

in the response to these letter i have my dad help me compose them
he might as well be a lawyer without the whole law degree thing
this letter states the same stuff as the first two and then some
as well as requesting a hearing to fight my case
it also includes " thank you for all of your assistance in clearing up any misunderstanding or confusion in your belief I was trying to defraud the government in any way."
hehe..
again, this letter has the copied heading from the first so my social security number is still off a digit

i send that letter off, sit and wait
a call comes a few weeks later while i'm at work
it's a woman from albany who wants to talk and informs on the message that my ss # is off by a digit
i check the letters i sent to them and say "oh, so it is"

i call the lady from albany back the following day on my first break at work
no answer
so i leave a message
i call again during my lunch
she finally answers
we talk for a bit and she tells me that the arrival of my letter got screwed up because of the one digit being off
then she tells me
"because you worked at other warehouses before you should have had no problem with the furniture warehouse job"
i calmly reply "well, this was far different from the other jobs i've had"
"your case will be reviewed and decided by probably the end of the day" she says

another few weeks go by
on a monday another three envelopes show up in the mailbox from albany
these say the same thing "you owe us $527.25"
it also includes "this information will be reviewed at your hearing
fine i say
two days letter another letter arrives
"your case as been dismissed"
cool i say
that was a few weeks ago

today i go out to the mailbox
thrice letters again
first envelope i open: "you worked for furniture warehouse company on 12/20/09
your lack total unemployment is disqualifying for unemployment purposes"
alright, that sounds about right
second envelope: "the disqualification which was imposed effective 02/11/10 has been withdrawn
you will receive a payment covering all benefits that may be due to you"
ok, that sounds like a plan
third envelope: "on 12/20/09 you made the factually false statement that you were toally unemployed"
^where that comes from is i claimed my one working day the following sunday, instead of the sunday i worked
"on 12/20/09 you concealed the pertinent fact that you worked"
yeah, but in three separate letters i sent you jerks i told you i worked and where i messed up the claiming part
"the total balance of your required repayment is $50.25"
where does this figure come from you ask?
well in the middle of last year everyone receiving unemployment got a $25 raise
why did they give a raise? i have no friggin' clue

so because of the government's stupid legislation they want me to pay a drop in the ocean
i don't understand why they couldn't put these letters in one envelope every time they send something
in one it states your unemployment benefits will end, another your case has been dropped and the last that you owe
ask for the $50.25 they still claim i owe
well i still want a hearing...

*drinks final sip of tea*
think about it
these are the same people that are now going to control your health care
